Chinese cresteds are good for ppl with allergies and are a smaller dog, just have to watch that the children are ok around it as they aren't big in size, good temprement, limited fur too which is why good for ppl with dog allergies

or dogs which don't shed much, such as

Dogs with fur which don't shed much dander – Bichon Frise, Bedlington terrier, Basenji, Italian Greyhound, Poodles, Miniature Schnauzers, Soft coated Wheaten Terriers.

Even if you choose to get one of these dogs, the following household rules would ease the allergies and would make your life with dogs more bearable :

Do not sleep with the dogs and it’s probably best not to allow them into the bedrooms or confine them just downstairs in the hard floored areas. Try using baby gates on stairs.
Try to have just hardwood flooring wherever possible – carpet tends to harbour pet dander and makes it hard to remove.
You can have HEPA air cleaners in the house to reduce the mold, pollen and dander level
If the dogs are allowed on the sofas then it’s best to have slip covers or sheets
Vacuum the house regularly with a HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner.
Wash your dog twice a month to remove dander. If you can get a pet groomer to do it at their parlour all the better because it means you don’t have set off your allergies whilst doing it.
Wash all the dog bedding and toys regularly. You can try using special laundry detergents formulated for allergy control – click here.

I've pretty much copied and pasted, going to put the link in my source info...

Bishon Frise, Shih Tzu, Poodles, and Lhasa Apso are all breeds that have long hair, limited shedding and are less likely to bother allergies AS MUCH.

There are no dogs that are hypo-allergenic. Although, I am sure that several people will respond to you and tell you they are. (My daughter says there will be 1:5 ratio of hypo to other answers I think it will be closer to 1:2.5!)

Be careful to stay away from "designer" dogs. You will be making a crap shoot with them. Sometimes they get the low-shedding gene, sometimes they don't.

Good luck!

I have allergies and I own only Boston Terriers has house dogs. They are very loyal and shed very little. They are really fun dogs, my son and I will sit and watch the puppy and just laugh our butts off.

Bichon Frises are small, loyal, and lovely. They don't shed so that should help with allergies. It was my childhood breed.

West Highland White Terrier.
Sheds little. VERY. little.
They still love to be brushed though.
They only get up to 22 pounds, and about 1 foot high. They are good with children, but not VERY young children.
