My belly is pierced and I'm looking at it and the skin that it's pierced on is getting thinner and thinner by the minute. It's as thin as a scab and I'm afraid that if I even touch it that it'll rip out real easily. Has it happend to anybody before?

Is there anything I can do to keep it in or make it go back to the way it was without letting it rip out on its own?

Your piercing is rejecting.
when you get pierced, your body will try its hardest to reject the piercing, untill it decided that its just easier to heal around it.
If its not infected (red, puss) then just take it out, it will deffinatly reduce scarring better then letting it reject. if its infected try and heal it, then take it out when its healed.
if you are still infected and close the piercing you can trap the infection and that can cause problems.
All you can do now is let it heal and get it repierced, making sure to let your piercer know that your are prone to rejecting.

This is the process of rejection. It is most common in navel and nipple piercings because of the pressure and movement to the area.
If the skin is that thin, please remove the jewelry before it rips out and causes a nasty scar.
Next, evaluate the cause. Are you allergic to the material of the jewelry? Was the jewelry the right length/diameter? Did anything rub it such as waistbands or belts? Did you touch it? How old was the piercing? Aftercare methods?

You can let it grow out and get it repierced. The only thing is, the second piercing thru the scar tissue will hurt 10x as much! It'll be a tough push thru the healed skin and will bleed alot. But if you do choose to get it redone, there is a considerably less chance of it rejecting out again.

Any piercing can be ripped out, but if the skin is getting thinner and thinner, you are most likely experiencing rejection. Which is basically the body's way of pushing out foreign and unwanted objects. Take the piercing out now before you get a horrible nasty scar.

it's rejecting.
one of my cartiliage piercings did the same thing. the only solution is taking it out, letting it re-heal and getting it again.
unfortunately, if it rejected once, it's pretty likely that it will again. especially if it's your belly button, which is prone to infection.
if you want to spend all your money on getting it done over and over, you can, and hope it doesn't reject it, but i would say just take it out and let it heal.
or it might be a bad piece of jewellery. a lot of people's bodies can't tolerate anything but surgical steel, especially during the initial healing process.

Take the thing out, let it heal and get it re pierced. (preferably at a reputable studio...)
Rejection once on its way is almost impossible to stop.

It can definitely rip out. If i were you I would Take it out myself before it does. I mean is having a belly ring that important. Just wait till it heals and get it done again. By someone who knows what they are doing.

Yes, it happened to my best friend. She was changing her shirt and it got caught on it and ripped off. It was so nasty and now she can't get her belly peirced for about 1 year until it heals completely.

yep..Mine eventually worked itself right out, it didn't hurt at all, but it was pretty gross and really inconvenient. I'd take it out, let it heal, and then have them repierce it further in.
