I wouldn't worry to much, go and listen, if this person is speaking from God, your heart will be content. If he is not speaking from God you heart will be offended. If you don't like what you hear, you are free to get up and leave. Pray about it and ask God for His wisdom and guidance. People, Prophets, Churches, Parents, Siblings - etc. can and will let you down occasionally.
Just remember to keep your eyes on Christ Jesus, He will never let you down. God Bless You

Listen carefully to this modern day Prophet. You can tell if he is true or a false prophet. To call a person a Prophet means that he is truely speaking the word of God. Ask your Minister about how you can feel comfortable with this modern day man and him being called a Prophet. Your Pastor, called him that because he feels he is a true Pastor in the word of God. Some Ministers just refer to some clergy as being a Prophet.

None. After Jesus Christ went to heaven and after the death of the apostles, "never" again would they have a prophet keeping them in direct contact with God.
When Jesus said, "It Is Finished" mention in John 19:30. It means, Jesus left nothing undone.
These False Apostles and Deceitful Workers have "no" authority because they are "not" inspired of the Holy Spirit nor are they eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ as mention in John 20:22-23; Acts 1:8, 21-26.
It is written, "The Apostles were the "only" ones who where to receive the power from on high." Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8
Here's what the bible says, "The Apostles and Prophets and "they alone", were the chosen ambassadors of Christ through which we are reconciled to God." 2 Cor. 5:20

If you are in a Baptist or maybe Presbyterian church it will probably be okay. If you are in a Pentecostal or Charismatic church-be very careful. There may be some Preachers today who are considered prophets by conservative scholars-but none of them can predict the future. If they try that proves that they are false. Prophecy is "preaching forth" the word of God, not prophesying and fortune telling.
I saw what I considered a real prophet around 1995 in Mobile Ala at Cottage Hill Baptist church. His name was Richard Owen Roberts. I am sure he is dead by now , he was very old. His sermons convicted most everyone-and most left. They could not stand hearing the truth. They were too worldly.
BTW-what city is your church in? If its in the south i may try to listen to this prophet.

If I was you I would just stay at home, sounds to me like your pastor is looking to make some extra money by bringing in a scam artist portraying as a prophet, as for your question no there are no prophets of God today, our world is full of schemers, and scamming religious clerics portraying as prophets just to get your money.

Yes there are prophets. Prophecy is a spiritual gift that God gives to some.

NancyJo, I believe God is still blessing people w/ this gift and using prophets to help edify and encourage us,u, and others. I once asked God to speak to me so clearly and for me not to be confused in my mind. And he used a prophet from Australia visiting our church to answer my ?, I gotta tell you, it was so awesome!. I asked God to speak to me as clear as a bolt of lightening and he did using a prophet.

I would go, & in all sincerety...be prayed up. do not have any active sin in your life.
If there is something you want to know; begin NOW to pray & ask G-d about it. chances are, you will be singled out by the prophet.
However, when he is there, do NOT focus on him. Focus on G-d & keep in an attitude of prayer/worship. Pray for the prophet to hear clearly. And be open! Faith will draw G-d to like flies to honey!

I'm not so sure that life calls for
prophets.
It's more likely that creation requires
mystery.
What could be better than to wake
to a day we have seen before.
