It depends on your height. Starving yourself won't work as your body naturally goes into "starvation mode" and slows down so you don't lose weight. You need to eat right to be healthy. The best thing to do is to increase your activity level and not overeat. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help, too. Do anything to burn off the extra calories like taking walks, dancing, climbing stairs, etc.

Please don't starve yourself because if you do, your metabolism gets messed up. Your body tries to protect you from starvation by turning food into fat. It's called "starvation mode." I would suggest maybe looking into keeping a food diary for a few days. There are some online that are free or very inexpensive. One good one that is 9 dollars a month is called My Food Diary. It is at MFD.com. You would have to ask your parents for a credit card. There are some other ones online that are free. I've lost 10 pounds over the past 2 months just by using a food diary. I had no idea how much I ate. Maybe you could check out some books on nutrition at the library. Do you have a nutritionist/nurse at your school or at the doctor that you could see?
The healthy way to lose weight so it will stay off and you won't yo-yo is to lose one pound a week. To do that, you will have to cut out 3500 calories a week. That would be 500 calories a day. You could do this by cutting out a couple of sodas and walking for an hour. Good Luck! Don't stress out and try to lose a bunch of weight. You are still young and growing. Just try to educate yourself about proper nutrition and try to exercise. Remember to eat a good breakfast that is high in fiber like Fiber One or Kashi. Don't eat sugar sweetened cereals or sugary muffins. Also, try to drink 8 glasses of water a day. That will keep your body healthy and hydrated!

Actually, for your age that is a little bit much. but seriously not alot. don't ever starve yourself, on top of it being able to make you sick, it can tear up your insides. Also, there have been studies to show that the more you don't eat, the more your body holds in, making you bigger. I would say do some more physical activity, running, play some sports. you should eat 3 balanced meals a day and drink a lot of water, and eat fruits and veggies. Also, sometimes, you have growth spurts which put you in proportion, so that may be what will happen with you also, because you are still young.

Without knowing your height, Jackie, no one can tell if you are at a healthy weight for you age and height. And even if you happen to be a little overweight right now, please remember you are still growing. Starving makes your body want to save fat, so that doesn't solve a weight problem. Learn what a good size portion is and eat a variety of healthy foods at least 3 times a day plus at least one snack which can be a piece of fruit or a couple of small cookies. Good eating habits will help you control your weigh all your life.

Everyone is built different. So long as you're active and eat healthy, don't be worried about how much you weigh. It's just a number. You are growing and need a healthy balance diet. Don't starve yourself. If you think you're too big, just exercise a little more. At certain points in puberty your body holds onto more weight, then you'll probably grow a few inches. Don't worry and good luck!

I don't know how tall you are so I can't tell if you are overweight or not. But because you are so young and still growing you should speak to a doctor before dieting. The doctor can tell you if you need to diet and if you do what the best way to do that is to make sure you get your nutritional needs to keep developing properly. You should not starve yourself. It can have life threatening consequences like organ failure and death. It'll also make your skin bad and possibly make your hair fall out due to lack of proper nutrition.
By the way commercial diets like Weight Watchers, Zones, Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem are not designed for children and teenagers.

First--how tall are you?? If you are 5'8" you are normal...if you are shorter it is suggested that you might want to watch what you consume in calories and foods...and exercise. You should be consuming approximately 1,845calories a day...100-300 of them only in junk foods. You need to educate yourself on how to eat...not starve yourself. If you starve yourself you will only end up binging...seriously.
You are still growing...another reason that you don't want to starve yourself...you will potentially not supply your body with the adequate nutrients needed for physical development (inside and out) that will potentially effect you down the road in your late adulthood.

Depends on your height, not your age. But 140 is probably a bit too heavy. Starving yourself will work short term, but then you will just gain back all the weight plus more. The healthiest diet is the Zone diet. www.zonediet.com

every person is different. Remember you are at an age when your body is changing rapidly. However if you feel you need to lose weight instead of starving yourself try to stop eating junk food and soda and eat fruits and veggies instead

It depends on how tall you are. But in my opinion, you're too young to be worrying about your weight. Starving yourself is never an answer to anything.
