My friend's idea of dating is when one of you can drive (which, for me, wasn't until the summer b4 my junior year in high school). That's ridiculous. I think that if you wait another year, both you and your potential bf's will be more mature and it'll be easier for you. I had a "boyfriend" at, like 12, and it was ridiculous. Focus on being a goofy kid while you can. You can only get away with capris, toe socks and flip-flops for so long.

The true guy won't be along for about 10 years.
But to answer the question..13 IS too young except in groups. Like a church function or a school function. But not just you and a guy alone....
Just remember, between now and the time the right guy comes along in 10 yrs or so, about 100 guys will tell you they love you.
Don't believe them, they only want one thing...and it has nothing to do with love.
Be careful but have fun and enjoy your youth...

I think it is a little young. You should have plenty of guy friends though so you know what things to look for once you do get a boyfriend. Above all, don't look for someone online, you could be stalked by some wierdo or something. You shouldn't worry about getting a boyfriend until you are around 18, in my humble opinion. Just relax and have fun!!

Dating at 13 is fine but just be careful. You need to get into it gently and not jump in without thinking about what you might be getting yourself into. Dating is the start of a relationship which might go nowhere but it might lead to a fantastic part of your life :) You're going to probably date lots of guys so don't commit yourself too early - you have a lot of time to learn things. Hope this helps.

IMO, 13 is too young to date unless in a group setting or chaperoned. I say 15 or 16 (depending on maturity level and trustworthiness) is okay.
We live in a sex-crazed society with ever-eroding social standards, it appears. I want to minimize my daughters' chances of making bad choices that could affect them for the rest of their lives and from having their youth and naivety exploited.

No, it's perfectly okay to go to a movie, go out to eat, maybe go bowling or even fishing or something. Just don't get to serious at your age, you have your whole life ahead of you still. The word of the day for such a young person as yourself is, "patience".
