Physical and psychological dependence on Ativan and other drugs in that class varies widely from individual to individual.

For some, it can be extremely addicting, and for others, there doesn't seem to be any addiction problem..

If you have concerns, talk to your doc.

I agree...6 sounds about right.
I've taken a very low dose (.5 mg) almost every night (in combination with Seroquel for insomnia that goes along withmy bipolar) for several years without any addiction problems. I've never had to raise the dose and I don't have any withdrawal symptoms if I don't take it. I also take .5-1 mg as needed, which I only use in extreme situations (maybe a half dozen times a month or so).
I have a history of substance abuse and tend to like things too much that can be abused, but ativan doesn't trigger that in me at all.

But I know there is a risk of dependency on it, especially at higher doses. When someone on a higer dose wants to go off of it after taking it for a while, they need to gradually taper down the dose to avoid physical withdrawal symptoms. Some people keep needing a higher and higher dose to get the same effect. Some really do have a problem with it.

I'd say about a 6. I think you could get addicted to it if you are not careful.
