Yes, I know the products that really work. The ones that you can use on the animals, inside the house, and outside products. I know which ones are dangerous to animals, and the people trying to use them.
I know that you can not use most products with the animals still in the house. Many of them require that you and the animals stay out for 4 to 6 hours. You can't use Sevan Dust, Boric Acid, or bug bombs anywhere near animals!!!
I also know that most people don't know how to handle them, and accidentally poison themselves. I just met a woman this afternoon who needs lung surgery because of she didn't know what she was doing, like many people, and almost killed herself. I also know of several people who killed their beloved pets out of ignorance.
If people would read the directions on the labels and not think "more is better" or "It says 8 weeks and older, it should work on a 4 week old!" Labels are there for a reason, but people think they know better than the scientists who tested the products.

Yes, a lot of people use 'home remedies' that are toxic, or they will use the wrong product on their puppy, kitten, dog, or cat. I do know which ones are safe because i work at a vet clinic, and i see them used every day. Frontline advantage and revolution are the ones i see used most often. You just have to use the one that is specifically used for dogs or cats, and for the right weight range. They are effective, and safe. Every once in a while we see a reaction, either a skin reaction, or a neurological reaction. I have never seen these products cause any fatalities. If there is a reaction, veterinary attention right way will stop it. But as has been said many times today on yahoo, it is scary about some of the advice given by people who just don't know what is safe, and people who take their advice.

Ok now I know that this is gonna sound really weird next to all of the "frontline and advantage" options, but bacon grease will do the trick. It's cheap too.
When I was younger and we brought home my cat I have now, he was infested with fleas really badly. There was just no way to get them all off. My grandmother suggested it and it worked.
The grease smothers them and then they die and can be easily removed by gently wiping with a wet wash cloth. Just keep and eye on it and make sure that ur pets arent licking the grease. They dont need to ingest that.

I've been a groomer for 20 years and the best product i have found is called De Flea made by natural chemistry. the shampoo is wonderful and it also leaves the coat conditioned. I've used it on 3 week old kittens and pups too. it also works on ticks and lice.
I've used it on myself after having a really bad day with loaded infested animals.
as far as after care use front line or bio spot regularly and Adams flea products for your house and furniture.
good luck and the best method is staying on top of the situation

If you are looking for an economical way to treat and prevent on your pets, you can use Dawn Dishwashing Detergent to bathe them. If they have white fur do not put it directly on them put it in your hand and then on them, if not it will leave a tint on there fur. Use the regular not any special scent or anything. After you get rid of the fleas and ticks you can bathe them once every two weeks or so to keep them off.

My vet had an iodine bath of sorts, when I took the cat in that I adopted. There is a specific dilution and I think it was about 1 capful to a washtub full of water.
You have to wash the cat thoroughly, and can't let them go around the house to be reinfected.
Petsmart and Petco, walmart & kmart all have flea sprays and things to clean up the infected areas.
GOD bless.

Frontline really works well for fleas on your pet. If your house has fleas you can use a bomb..(just a name for a bug killer) but you can get them at a store. Raid works well for the bomb. But you have to take all the animals our of your house and you have to stay out of it for a while like 8 hours or so i believe...it really does help to get them out of your house.

Frontline is the greatest stuff!! For getting fleas out of your home......I'd talk to my vet or the humane society. There are so many products out there and ppl really need to READ THE LABELS!

ok, I KNOW that Frontline & Advantix work in 24 hours. I have looked at "bombs" & didn't like what I read so I refused to use them in my home. And I don't know the answer to your last question. And I'm not sure what conclusion you want your readers to come to with the leading questions you have asked.

Buy from a reputable vet, not online or through an 800 number UNLESS YOU ARE POSITIVE what your animal weighs. The most people who poison their animals are giving them the wrong dosage.
