my son has sore throat& headache started sun night, took him to doctors on tue they said he just had a virus and sent us away with the usual calpol advise. i grew more concerned in the evening and my husband took him to the night clinic, the saidhe had a bacterial throat infection and gave us some antibiotics co-amoxical? (something like that) anyway we left it a day giving him the meds with capol (told was ok) didnt seem to be getting better and the gland under his ears were getting really swollen. took him back again tonight and they hav given him some ibrobrofen mixture to help the swelling, but one is so huge he can hardly swallow and i am really concerned, the docs have said if he gets worse bring him back anytime, we took him back a few hours later (tonight) and they checked him over again, they said they could send us to hospital but nothing would be done till morning anyway, so he would be more comfortable at home and to go and see the docs in the morning. i dont know what to d

aww poor lil' thing bless him. . If you are not happy with the advice and treatment given to your son by his doctor you should definitely ask for a second opinion. He is only 4!!! Personally i would take him to the hospital and tell them what your doctor says. You cant afford to take risks with the health of someone so young. Go now!! (yes now, whatever time it is where you are) and dont leave the hospital till they convince you that they have done all they can. Take a friend too for moral support. Your son will be alright, I know he's tiny and I know he's your world ,but you are doing all you can to help. I know its hard when someone you love is so poorly but do try to be calm.

Aw the poor thing!
As far as I am aware, when you have a throat infection and it begins to stop you swallowing, you should go to casualty. The fact that the swelling is stopping him speaking is really frightening, as severe throat swelling can obstruct breathing as well.
Co-amoxiclav is a strong antibiotic and should have had some effect by now.
If not, I think it's time to go to casualty. They work ALL hours, not just the next morning.
I work in a hospital, we have admissions 24 hours a day and 24 hour medical cover. I don't know what your GP was thinking telling you that. As far as I'm concerned, that was just dangerous.
If you're still concerned when you read this, PLEASE take him into casualty.

Good luck, I hope you get it all sorted out x

He certainly has a ear infection. Take him to the emergency if that is required. Antibiotics will help upto a certain extent but will do more damage to the good bacteria. Please make sure you find out more about Probiotics. It is found in all natural medicine shops. Don't let the poor child suffer. If he gets ear pain each time or mostly when he has cold or any throat infection consider draining the ear. its a small procedure. But Please consult a specialist.

Oh the poor thing. He will def be more comfortable at home so long as he's not getting any worse.. he needs to have his parents on hand more than waiting in a hospital bed for the doc.

Try some home remedies. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection . Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
