Hi there...a neuter or castration involves removing the male cat's testicles and vas deferens.

The term "castration" has a connotation of multilation. Your male cat will not be mutilated by this operation. It takes about ten minutes to do it - they just make small opening and remove the sperm and testosterone making stuff inside and then stitch or glue a closing. So he will still have normal looking male equipment. His balls just won't be as large as an unneutered cat.

I am from the south( Va.) and when we had a cat that had kittens grandpa would instruct me to go get the male kittens and get myself a pair of gloves so I could hold thier little legs apart and grandma would hold front legs and he would just grab the whole sack and with a swift movement of his razor blade he cut them both off, then I would spray the site with blue antiseptic and turn em loose. It usually took about 2 days but they always came back.
But you more sophisticated folk take them to the vet I'm sure.Sure glad I'm a hillbilly, white trash with a degree.

Yes, Neutering is castration, which is to remove the testicles, scrotum is left and sometimes other parts of the reproductive system may be removed.

This explains the whole thing very well.

based off of what it looked like when i got my boys done, it appears that they make a small incision in the sack, cut out the testicle and remove it. the incision in the sack is very small, so they don't use sticthes or anything. just keep your cat from licking it/messing with it and it will heal up fine.
(this assumption is because when i took the cats in, they had pronounced bulges in their genital area, and afterwards, they had one small cut on each side and the bulges were gone)

NO, nothing like that. They don't even touch his 'penis'...is that what they call is for boy cats too??? Anyways, they cut the skin surrounding the uhm...ball sack...plop them out and then stitch (or in my cat's place glue) the skin back together. They are put under while this is going on and Smokey was stoned for the rest of the day but by the next morning he was back to normal.

They make two incisions on the testicle sacs and remove the testicles and tie off the vas deferns attached to them then glue or sew the incisions.

Yes in a way. How else would you stop animals from procreating? It's less tramatizing then being spayed.
