I hear that if you filter vodka it tastes better, so would coffee filters work?

That's a pretty crude filter. Distilleries use sophisticated charcoal filtering processes. And no, that doesn't mean you should use your outdoor grill either!

All the coffee filters in the world can't help the fact that you bought cheap vodka. Next time, shell out some extra money for a $20 bottle instead of the $6 ones. Either that, or wait until later on in the night when you won't realize how bad the vodka tastes.

Absolutely not. Vodka is usually filtered (distilled) 2-4 times depending on the make and what you want for taste. Coffee filters will probably add a distaste to it. Try freezing the vodka for a few days, freeze the glasses also and then try it. It is superb. The better the vodka (cost can tell ya) the more smooth and taste it is> careful, it can be addicting. Try a vodka martini um

Try running it through a water filter rather than a coffee filter. Water filters will help the taste.

No, fruit filters do work though. line a container with cubes of fruit (watermelon and pineapple both work well) and fill it with vodka. leave it for about a week. It takes out impurities and gives it a fruit flavor. You can't even tell its booze afterwards. Cheaper vodka would have to stay in longer because there is more crap in it.

No, it would do nothing. The particulate impurities can be filtered out with specialized filters, or you can simply buy better vodka. Using coffee filters will accomplish nothing.

only if you put charcoal in the filters. (this was on a mythbusters show) after you figure in the time spent doing this (filtering vodka a bunch of times) it's probably cheaper to buy more expensive vodka.

If you're vodka has a taste, I'd be curious to try it. Vodka doesn't have any taste. That's what makes it so popular with people who like the effect but don't want the taste of alcohol.

There was an episode about this on MythBusters, and filtering didn't help. Buy better vodka.

Isnt vodka already distilled? i thought that it had already gone throught that process before purchasing it. unless your making home brewed spirits?
