The issue is that I have oily skin, but I have to use a face scrub and pumice stone daily because while my face is naturally oily, it also flakes uncontrollably. Also, if I use a moisurizer that is anything but light, my face will break out with extreme acne. Has anyone ever experienced this or knows a way of treating it? I am really tired of having to deal with these issues...and I also think that the excess flakes might also be contributing to my acne prone skin...just a thought.

I also want to add that only within the last 5 months have I used the pumice stone. I have used clinique and mary kay (both at seperate times and for long periods of time)and those products have not helped take care of the dry skin and still leave me with oil, acne, and flakes.

If you overdo trying to dry up the oil, and overdo the scrubbing, 2 things will happen. One, your skin will overproduce oil trying to radically correct the radical change in pH. Two, the scrubbing can cause abrasions that make you MORE acne-prone.

In wintertime, more moisture is needed because of dry weather.

Try a gentler approach. You do need to exfoliate, but the way to know if what you are doing is too aggressive is if you still show flakes. You are sloughing too fast.

My skin did not improve until I began using professional skin care products. Go have a facial at a reputable medical spa or regular spa, and get professional advice. It is possible to exfoliate without using coarse grains. A pumice is way too much for a face - it is meant for FEET, and harbors bacteria and fungus as it stays wet. This increases the flaking and acne.

If your acne is cystic, see a dermatologist for Accutane before your scarring is too deep.

Wash with Noxzema in the morning at night use the St Ives Apricot scrub. Every 3rd day or so use the St Ives blue clay mask. You can sleep in it if you want. Loose the pumice stone. That will aggravate the condition. Go to the store and get some Oil of Olay Hydrating moisturizing lotion. Get the sensitive skin one. I don't get acne anymore but do have oily skin that WOULD flake if I didn't do what I just told you. Leave the Noxzema on during your shower a few minutes then rinse it off.

Your skin is oily, but everything you use is drying it out.
Use products for your type skin, don't use your stone everyday.
