You have not done it. You have convinced yourself you have done it. That's different.
Astral projection is just more crap that isn't true. People love thinking they have superpowers.

My experience. I had been doing some profound relaxing techniques while lying on my back on a flat board with a thin mattress on top. It's a slow process (an hour or two). Starting with focussing on one finger and letting go of all the tension in it. Then to the other fingers one by one. Next, one by one again, relax the hand, wrist and lower, then upper arm, proceeding until complete arm totally relaxed. Then same procedure with other arm, and so on until every single part of body and head has totally relaxed and released every bit of tension. The most difficult to relax are the eyes and finally the solar plexus - that takes a long time. Finally when plexus lets go you zoom out of body through it. It was a profound surprise - and I only knew that it was AP because someone had described it to me once. The next time, the relaxing process is a lot quicker - because you have conditioned the body to relax - you don't even get to all body parts and suddenly you are out. One important factor is that you have just the feet crossed - one resting on top of the other. I learned from a hypnotist who had clients wanting to learn AP that the crossing of feet was apparently necessary. After that just relaxing while sitting was all it took. The hypnotist's clients paid her and others a great deal of money to try to master doing it. If herbal tea worked everyone would be doing it!
Prior to it happening had been doing many hours of yoga meditation and other practices. I think in large part the purity of person is a requirement for it to happen and that is confirmed by some authors of AP books.

This is correlative to lucid dreaming which is practiced by zen adepts. If you ask your self at times throughout the day,am I dreaming, and you can carry that question into your dream, you may enter the state of being aware that you are dreaming and become conscious within your dream. The tough part is when you are "awake" as we define it and realize that you are dreaming. If you do a search on" Lucid Dreaming",you may find that there is a researcher who authored a book on this.

I was discussing this with someone the other day, and he suggested that when you start feeling that sort of "buzzy" energy (don't know how else to describe it) to start cycling it up and down in your body and when you have a good swinging momentum going, pitch your "self" right out of your body through your crown chakra or your third eye.
Haven't tried this yet myself, but sounds like it could work.

Try moving without moving, if you understand that. It's what I do and it works very well.
Try imagining the sensation of moving your arm up and down without actualy moving it.
Then, try this with your whole body, getting up and moving around. Once you have this accomplished, try it in a peaceful place while in meditation.

Try not to smoke too much crack before bed.
Because that is the ONLY explanation for "astral projection" since it violates the theories of thermodynamics, and is therefore, impossible...
