i used to get horrible anxiety attacks during my past marriage. i am so sorry to hear that you are having them. i know how bad and uncomfortable they can make you feel. i actually did not know what was wrong with me. i had to see a doctor and he told me. i thought i had heart problems or breathing problems. so, you have one up on me! :) what got rid of them for me is simple:
a. recognize what is causing these attacks
b. avoid that thing. remove it from your life. you don't need it if it causes you an anxiety attack.

now, i'm not saying that they will go away completely. it's been five years since i was married and i still get them if i talk about it or am reminded of it. for example, i cannot watch jerry springer and watch people's tempers flare. it freaks me out and i get an attack. or if someone wants me to talk about the abuse i suffered, i get an attack when telling them.

i hope this helps. good luck with it.

I can't think of anything over the counter that will work quickly. Most of them need time to get into your system. You would be much better off telling your doctor and letting him prescribe you something. St. John's Wart and Kava Kava both have a calming effect and help keep you balanced - but they take awhile for you to notice the benefits

I was also diagnosed with anxiety. I went through many sleepless nights and then my doctor prescribed me Paxil CR. First off, let me say the effects could be different for everyone but for me it only made mine worse. Then I found this medicene at a local herb shop called 'Mood Plus'. It kind of gives you a balance and sense of wellbeing. It worked for me and maybe it'll work for you without having all the side effects of prescription drugs. Good luck!

Go see a psychotherapist to talk about what brings this on and tips to deal with it.

You may need to also see a psychiatrist (an MD) for any medication (anti-anxiety meds, anti-depressantsts,etc) you may need to get through your attacks.

Ask your family doc for a reference.

Don't use OTC's unless advised by psychiatrist.

Wish you well.

You'd be best off to get some counselling.
