Depends on the ages:
If it's a 17 year old girl and 22 year old man, probably.
A 28 year old girl and 23 year old guy, no.

Have the people who told you yes it is wrong explained what they mean? Have they given you imperical statistical evidence that it is 'wrong'? Until they do this they''re in no position to tell you it is wrong because I have several - and I'm not exaggerating - friends, some of them have been married for long years and the marriages are still going good. Five years is OK. But 10 or more can spell trouble of jealousy for one of you might pass the time of life when the sexual hormones would be on the declinej. Next thing you know, he or she begins looking for someone younger even though sex is not the most important ingredient in a relationship. If he loves you the way you want to be loved and you love him the way he wants to be loved, I say give it a try

Not really but it can depend on how old you are. For instance the age gap between a 16 and 21 year old, can, to some people seem a greater gap than between a 36 and 41 year old. Perhaps this means the 'age gap' should really be referring to the distance apart in maturity.

Well, the way I see it love doesn't have an age limit. My husband is 10 years older than me and we have been married for going on 17 years. My family was totally against us from the begining. I would have to tell you to do what I did to get people to back off. I told every body that it was my decision and if the didn't want him around then I wouldn't be around either. Needless to say I don't speak to my family any more. And I might add I have never been happier with how things have ended up.

No as long as both of you are over the age of 18 its okay. I just hope its the guy that is 5 years older than the girl because guys take longer to reach the level of maturity.

Depending on how old you are...if you're 17 and she's 12, then yes, that's totally sick and wrong. However, if you're, like, 29 and she's 24, then no, it's okay. As you get older the maturity gap closes and it becomes more acceptable to be dating someone that much older (or younger) than you.

It depends, if one of them is under 20, then yes, but as age increases, age becomes less and less important, however years during teenage years can feel like lifetimes apart, even if it's only like 2 years.

I think it depends on your age If you are under 18 it is too big of a gap but over 18 I don't see a problem.

definitely NOT !!!! if they really into each other, age is not a problem at all !!! and 5 years is just a SMALL difference !!! in fact, some girls want to have a bf who is a few years older than them , cos they are mature enough to take care of them and make them feel secure.

like most people are saying, it really depends on the ages involved and the maturity level of both parties.
for example, i know a 22 yr old dating a 17 yr old, but he wouldn't take her out until he talked to her parents to make sure they were comfortable with it.
it all just depends on the people involved.
