Alright, I'm 18 yrs old, I'm planning to get a haircut soon, currently I have thick, short-mediumish brown hair.

Please explain what will layered hair do, do I just ask for "layered hair" and will it work with 4-6 inch long hair? I just need full details, since I'm unsure about it and I want to try something new.

Thanks.

P.S. I didn't get much sleep, so I'm a bit blargh.

Yes I think you should try it. My cousin has some what the same hair style it sounds like. And He layered it and it looks great! So why not do something new like that and hey if u don't like it you can always change it.

Layering is when the hairs sitting on top of hairs are made subsequently shorter so you keep the length but it just makes your hair look a lot better and it makes it a lot easier to maintain. It also gives you natural spikes if it's short enough. If you have long hair and are active, unlayered hair just makes you look gross afterwards, but if it's layered, everything will fall in place and will be a lot lighter but making you look stylish at the same time. The length doesn't matter, if you can cut one hair shorter than the other you can layer, and yep that's all you really need to say.

As for the gel, of course, forget that or any product if you don't want to. You never use gel for long hair, it just looks bad. Oh, and if you want to picture what it's like without layering. Think about the 1980's and compare it to now.

I say no.
Keep it simple,keep it short.
Getting a layered look requires you to be locked into a particular hairdresser every 6-8 weeks.
Find a nice look in a magazine on some guy model and go with that.
Chicks don't like guys that have more involved hair processes than they do.

layers in your hair will add volume if you have think hair id go against that unless the look you are going for is a very big poof kinda think i have very thick hair i had layers it was horrible but i have curly hair to...usually ppl with thick hair will do the opposite and get it thinned out with a razzor cut.....but why dont you just stop in ur local salon and ask them what they think and have them tell you how they would do it......oh n layers by the way is when it is kinda in a teir formation ....top is shorter than bottom ..but not like a mullet.....

Layering your hair will make you look more styled and will take alot of weight off. You should be able to style it easier with less fuss too. You hair is long enough for layers. Leesa

You sound crazy. And layered hair is for girls. Cut it off so you look like a boy.

u've to keep ur hair longer than 6 inches about 10 inches if u want to make it into layers then it w'd look nice.so u r better keep ur hair now but always maintain it clean n soft.

best wishes.

just cut it short; less maintenance and girls like to run their hands over it.
