Olive oil has saturated fats, which are bad. However, it has a greater amt. of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are good for lowering cholesterol. Trans fats are manufactured fats that are not present in the natural environment, but were instead created by human beings in laboratories. These are unsafe and very dangerous--and can be found in margarine, so be careful...even though olive oil is healthy, not all oils are.
Hydrogenated oil is not trans fat. If it says partially hydrogenated, then its trans fat.

Nature is not trying to hurt you, it is man that hurts you. Transfat does not exist in nature. They are made by man. One way to make it is by deep frying foods like chicken and french fries. It is done to make plant oils solid at room temperature, to create margarine.

See the article on this site below to see how it is man, not nature, that made America the fattest society to ever exist on the planet, and what you can do about it.

There are "good" fats and "bad" ones, just like there's good and bad blood cholesterol. Saturated fats and trans fat have bad effects on cholesterol levels.

Polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats (such as olive oil, canola oil, soybean oil, and corn oil) have good effects.
