get a little annoyed when they see people asking questions about their religion in the mythology section ?
this isnt a put down in any way ...
but i often see questions about spirits there also , and as this is part of my own religion ... i do grit my teeth a little when i see it
anyone feel the same ?
perhaps when questions are asked about the Goddesses or spells and rituals etc ?

Yes, I have been wanting to ask a simular question. I have found a wonderful site on the ancient writtings I would like to share.
http://www.sacred-texts.com/pag/index.htm
I would like to add to all who do practice , the Goverment recognized Pagan-Wiccan as a religion back in 1972 why can't you on this site.

Firstly we are the first to get upset at people's ignorance, so when people post questions in a humble attempt to educate themselves on a topic they don't know much about, I think that it can only be a good thing. Simply put people are attempting to educate themselves on subjects they don't know about like paganism or anything else. I use the Mythology section quite often because I feel I get a broader audience and for some reason saw this section mostly for christian beliefs just because there seems to be a lot of questions about christian belief systems posted in this section.
At the end of the day I think its quite petty to beconcerned about where the question is posted, lets not over look the fact that people are rising above their own ignorance to ask questions in the first place.
Its not the where or the who but the what that matters.

I'd noticed that, but I don't get offended or anything. The way I see it, all religions are based on a mythology, so there's not much of a difference between the two except whether or not you believe the myths. If you do, its religion, if not, its mythology. As far as spells and such, magic practices are not technically a part of a religion, they are a practice that followers of the pagan religions use, but other people do, too.

To tell you the truth, I don't think I've ever been to the mythology section. I tend to spend my time here and in the GLBT section. I can understand how people could get annoyed by it, but I don't think it would bother me. In a way, all religion is somewhat mythical. I think it would be interesting to see what kind of reaction you would get if you asked a Christian question in the mythology section. You know, just one of the standard questions that you find in this section. I wonder how many Christians would go postal?

i really don't care much, folklore is the stories behind religions. while i kind of disagree with the term Mythology, it doesn't bug me, personally though i would like to see any questions about the bible there instead. but that won't probably happen anytime soon.
spells, rituals and other forms of divination should be put here in the religion and beliefs. infact there is alot of things i would do as yahoo answers to clean it up a little bit. i find this section is way to small ...

It's difficult to differentiate 'myth' from 'religion' - maybe yahoo could just have a big section called 'spiritual beliefs' and put all the religious content there? I guess alot of people just associate the 'religion' section with organised religion, it might not be particularly accurate but look on the positive side - the mythology section is less bogged down with cut and paste arguments from extremists and radicals!

most people are too stupid to call it Pagan since Wiccan was the next big thing a few years ago and all those black clothes and chains looked so-o-o cool.
Most people are so ignorant they don't know about spells or Goddesses.
I love it, the more people wake up to the BS of modern Patriarchal religion the happier Pagan I will be. Ask away!
Blessed be, what ye cast out come back times three.

I just feel sorry for them because the brainwashing the poor things have gone through has them thinking in such a narrow minded way.
Don't let it bother you. I once ask my guides about this cause it had been bothering me for quite a while.
The answer came instantly and clear as a bell. They ask me " does it really matter what the confused think".
After I thought about it for a while I understood what they were telling me. Judgments that others pass that are based on confused ideas of intolerance, bigotry and arrogance do not define or describe me or my beliefs in any way.
They are just products of the confusion.
Remember Pangel these people are struggling through life deaf dumb and blind. Deaf because they have been told that anyone who hears anything from spirit is either Insane a liar or consorting with evil spirits.
Blind because they have only perception to guide them, and dumb because they are not taught to think for them selves. They can only regurgitate the things they have been told to believe by those who seek to control them.
Don't let their confusion become yours.
Stay the course,
Love and blessings Don

Actually, I don't go into the mythology section much.
But it doesn't annoy me. I kind of think that a lot of other religions are pretty mythological so it's more or less fair.

If it was up to the atheists, all the religious questions would be under mythology. Honestly, I have all my searches as RSS feeds so I really don't pay attention to which section they are under. If my keywords are there, I look at the question and answer it if it seems relevant.
