There was a bizarre situation that took place last year when casinos in Atlantic City were closed down due to some government bureaucracy. The state some how failed to get a budget approved before a certain deadline, and under state law this required some state workers to stop working. This included casino inspectors, and without them the casinos were required to close their doors.

Other than this unusual situation they are still open just like they have been for years. That weird situation got cleaned up in a matter of three days. The state lost millions of dollars in tax revenue from the casinos thanks to their screw up. But everything is back to normal and you can go to the casinos any time you like.

I did not hear about closings but it is crummy and the area around it is dangerous. It is a shame the boarwalk could be great but it is run down. If you are considering casinos in the NE try Mohegan Sun in Connecticut or Foxwoods.
