I am disabled from back surgery I had over 4 years ago and
I have been depressed over being out of work and not making money and going bankrupt with my bills and having bad credit and feeling bad most of the time...
I have gone to therapy and different doctors and am on
different kinds of medication right now...
I have been depressed about being out of work mostly with
no money making skills and unable to be hired for any kind
of job due to the fact that I have a hard time walking and standing...
I stay in my house a lot and play on the computer and watch movies and TV...
Sometimes I don't go out for days...
I have found 2 things that help me...
One is to make a list of projects or errands you want to do or places you want to go on certain days of your week...
Just a simple list of I need to go here and I need to go there...
The other thing I found that helps is to actually talk to someone, be it a friend, a counselor, a minister, a psychiatrist, or doctor...
Just talk to someone who will listen to you and offer advice...
That helps me a lot just to talk out my problems with someone else in person...

I am not very often sad or depressed these days but I used to get that way every once in a while in the past. Some of the other people's suggestions are good, e.g., reading, spending time with friends, but I found that, even though I was finding myself interested in NOTHING, that if I started moving my body and DOING something, then gradually I would become interested in what I was doing and maybe also do something else. Gradually the depression left me because I found I was focusing on something other than my problem.
A second solution I found was to help someone else out. Either listen to their problem or do something for them. Getting the focus away from my introspectiveness and onto someone else was the key for me.
That's about all I can think of now. Best of luck

What life gives you is very often directed by friends and family. If it makes you sad then for sure they are not guiding love your way. You need to see you are an outsider and start there. If you can find another friend who is in the same position socially it will be useful for learning about life. Good luck!

well im a Christian bout sounds like you got alot of Christian advice handed your way.
Usually you learn to deal with problems faced in life. Whether it be a good or bad decision you still have the expeirence to hold u until the next step. You can only learn what you can and ask those around you for support when you need.. ..
Either that or listen to angry music after a while it soothes you hahaha.

take it as a lesson learned. Also, the phrase, "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" <~~~that is a true statement. I've suffered from depression alot in my past. I always, or the last few times knew that "It will always get better". Keep in mind that life isn't always easy. there are good times and bad, this is the bad.
If you believe in God, I would suggest reading the Bible, it always helped me to know that He was on my side. My favorite book is Romans.

god is a great person to believe in at a point in your life of depression. if you find music that keeps your confidence up, that is also a great boost. it keeps you happy and your mind out of the gutter. read books, hang out with friends, do anything you can to keep your mind off of depression.
