Welcome to Indianapolis. Your question is wide open so I've listed a couple of links to alternative weekly papers that do a fine job of listing things to do and places to eat. The hardcopies are available at various locations throughout the city.
It's all a matter of personal perspective as to what is fun and tastes great.

There's lots to see and do in Indianapolis. I live just outside of Chicago but I like Indy because it is a big city without the "big city feel" of Chicago or New York. The restaurants that were mentioned earlier at Keystone are really great as well as Alcatraz and Palomino which are downtown. If shopping is your thing, there is lots of great shops all over the place. Downtown there is also the Indianapolis Zoo and White River State Gardens which are beautiful as well as the State Museum, Eitljorge Museum (Native American Museum - forgive the spelling), and of course the Indy Pacers and Colts are downtown. If you want to travel just outside of the city, there are lots of great suburbs around the city that offer great things to do as well. Good luck!

Golden Corral - Eyuck.
There are tons of great restaurants on Mass Ave ... also at Keystone at the Crossing (Cheesecake Factory for one), on Meridian St, in Carmel and on the North Side ...
Indy has a world class Children's Museum.
Email for more info.
