Hi Munchie
I have suffered with depression for the last 7/8 years. I have just returned to work after long term sick as my depression got too bad. I was off for 11months, and am now on a phased return. I currently work just two short days a week. In some ways it has been good because I have been busy so it has taken my mind off the problems I have that have worsene my depression, but then in others ways it has been really scary. Facing the people at work, having lost my confidence and self-esteem I am paranoid about them judging me. But on the bad days I just go home from work early. I amlucky as the company I work for are supporting me, up to now anyway, Idon't know how long that will last. But I must say it has been good to see some of my friends and know that they are there for me. this is the second time I have been off with depression, and I am finding it much more difficult this time. Last time I was back full time within 6 weeks. I started back at the start of October this time, and my Psychiatrist has still said I am not ready to increase my hours yet. I am just taking his guidance.
If you are currently under a Psychiatrist you need to discuss returning to work with them, as they will tell you whether they think you are ready or not. The chances are, you are probably ready, especially if you are feeling like you want to. Yes it will be scary, but if you are ready for it you will probably be fine. I don't know whether you are returning to the same place of employment or you are thinking about a new job entirely. Both have different advantages. Talk to your Psychiatrist.
Drop me a line through the link on this site if you want to chat more.
Take care.

I have Depression with PTSD and BPD I have been diagnosed since I was 11, and am now 25.I had so much trouble with a steady work history. I found that a local mental health place here in New York state provides you the option of a supported work environment. I waitress at a restraunt that is basically ran by people with a mental health diagnosis or some type of disability. Try asking a therapist or psychiatrist if there are any programs that cater to people with mental illness and want to work, but are scared! Hope This helped!

If you were severely depressed, you would not have the desire to even think about working--or doing anything else, for that matter. Depression makes people either eat all the time, or unable to eat at all. It makes people sleep all the time--or not sleep at all. It makes people forget about their responsibilities--some do not even shower, or do anything that a so-called "normal" person would do each day.
In these 6+ years, have you ever consulted a doctor, or other medical professional? It is important to do so now if you have not. Untreated depression can even lead to suicide in some people.
Go to:
http://www.about.com
in the upper right corner, type "mental health" in their search box. You will then be able to find depression and other mental ailments, and see what is going on in your case. Reading about your condition can help, but you still need to seek professional help. Therapy and/or medications are most probably necessary.
Good luck

start small try an hour or 2 at a charity shop and go on from there. it would cause a lot of bother to come of benefits, start work only to find it is to much for you and then trying to get your benefits sorted out again. check with benefits office to see what help they can give in getting you back to work, this advice for UK don't know about anywhere else. i really do wish you all the best.

Of course you should go back ..... a return to normality is what you want ( and need ) and work is a great start. Remember, you want to feel better, don't you, and getting back into a routine will be just great for you.
And if you don't, life will simply trot on, as dull and grey as ever ....

certainty is you are able to the two believe the "as quickly as a cheater constantly a cheater" theory or you are able to provide him a 2nd threat. I gave my ex a 2nd threat (he replaced into my first kiss, previous love, first each and every thing) and he promised hed substitute blah blah. He did it two times, and there purely arent any extra opportunities. in case you provide a guy extra advantageous than as quickly as threat then he knows it, and he knows the 1st time he gets caught is the scariest, so for sure thats the only time hes gonna relatively need to alter. After the 1st time he gets caught, hes purely gonna comprehend youll take him back further and further and do it some extra. One threat is the main any guy merits, he knows the outcomes after that and could make his selection then. do no longer take him back. same element befell (presently we are dealing with it) and that i desire to kill the female for being this kind of *&)@#$# yet im gonna be the bigger guy or woman. destiny will take place, he will the two be happier along with her (which you would be able to desire to be pleased with) or he would be apologetic approximately it and flow on (which then makes you sense extra suited to boot) win-win

When you feel you are ready, go outside. Breathe in the fresh air, and move on. Take that step, and it'll be much better. Will yourself out of the depression. If you WANT it, you CAN get it. So GET IT!

hopefully your depression is under control. make sure you have a good support system....family, friends, doc.... that can support your decision to return to work. i'll bet once you make that first step towards a new job, you'll feel great and confident. (same thing happened to me)
good luck.
