I have a really good feeling that a boy i like is going to ask me to the dance. I'm not allowed to date anyone, or dance with any boys until I'm in high school. (I'm in 7th grade) Is this a lame way of putting it? "I'm really sorry, but I don't even know if I'm going to the dance. and if I am, i'll probably just go with my friends. " Does it seem like I don't like him? Because I do. Any better "gentle put-down" suggestions? Thanks!

How's this:
"I'm really sorry-I already promised my friends I'd go with them...but I'll still see you there right?"

tell him the truth he wont get mad at you just your parents it might be lame but atleast you told him the truth now unless him keep asking you again and you keep coming up with other excuses then that would make him think you dont like him

I don't think you really like him because, you aren't making an effort to even get to know him. So what if your parents don't allow you to date, that doesn't mean you can't talk to him and get to know him. My parents don't allow me to date either but I don't let that stop me from meeting really nice guys. Besides are your parents going to BE at the dance? If not, what they don't know won't hurt them (even though I don't get what the prob is with just dancing with a boy bcuz it's not like you can get pregnant from that). Go to the dance and have good time no matter who it's with.

If he asks, then agree to meet him at the dance, spend the evening hanging out with him and, if your parents ask, then just say that you made some new friends and had a good time.

verbatim, "I had been think that you were going to ask me, but I'm so sorry, I can't, my parents won't let me date, or even go to dances yet, which really sucks since I think you're good looking"
Don't know if you wanna use the term "good-looking" I think you should let him know that you like him in a way that doesn't embarrass you. You decide which term to use in place of good-looking

Kinda sounds like you're not interested. Perhaps more of a "I'd love to go with you but I promised me friends already I would go with them, if I go?"
