If you were given a choice either to go to Iraq or stay at your duty station/home...which would you choose.
Nevermind that it's your duty, what you signed up for, to do what you're told to do. I want to know your personal choices. Peace to all!

I would stay home with my family, but it is not that simple. If I do not go and lead my soldiers, bad things can happen. I took my company to Iraq and did not have one fatality. I would like to think my leadership helped contribute to that. I signed on to do a job and I will do my job. No one drafted me, I volunteered.

I would deploy. I did not join the US Army to ignore my duties or be a coward. I could not live with myself if I stayed back and my unit deployed. I could never consider myself a leader anymore, and could never ask for the respect of my men again. Call it what you will, but I would rather come back draped in the Stars and Stripes before I forfeit my honor.

If I could choose I would go to Iraq. I tried, but my job at my rank is needed home more than in Iraq.

Actually, I think if it was an open & shut choice, every military person would choose to stay stateside....under the circumstnances, I feel they would all do what was right and just....and that is to go.
No one hates war more than a veteran.

If you join the military you usually join to serve your country. When you join you loose your right to decide where to go and what to do. Your there to serve you country and it’s interest. If you join the military and want to stay home you should get a desk job and leave the serving to really men and women.

Whether we believe in the reasons behind the war or not, training to fight is boring. i think most people in the military actually want to put their training to use. So, I choose Iraq. (Altho, I'll stick with my 6-mo deployments... you can keep that year crap)

Nobody wants to go to war. But if it is necessary then they will go and do what they have to do.
