We have a kitten we found in the cold and hungry. We brought it in and fed it and it has since made himself at home. The first 2 weeks he was fine, but then he began to get sluggish, loose stools just slipping out of him and he was covered in kaka and wouldn't clean. A friend said to change his food (he was eating adult food). I changed to Purina One Kitten formula and gave him and the other 2 cats de-wroming medicine. It took 2 weeks, but he got his vitality back and does a much better job cleaning himself, but the poo still just plops out. We're getting tired of accidentally stepping in the cold sludge or waing up in bead with crud on our bedding, pillows, hair, and body. Mind you, it's not lots at a time, just small blobs here and there, but it's still gross and unhealthy. Before I pay for a vet bill (or just take hm to the shelter--I don't wanna do that, but I have a 4 yr. old child) I'd like to find out if there's anything else I can try. He uses the box, just no slippage control.

All animals, humans included, may have the occasional loose stool that quickly resolves. But this has been going on for a very long time. Diarrhea can cause dehydration and nutrient loss over a period of time, which will weaken his immune system and lead to yet more problems if it isn't resolved.

Any new animal in a household should be taken to a veterinarian within a few days of being adopted or taken in. The first visit is for general health, parasite control, nutrition and behavioral counseling and vaccinations, if appropriate. Your kitten is overdue for this visit. Even if he had no problems, he should be seen by a veterinarian.

Don't give up on the little furball just yet. Give your veterinarian a chance to help you resolve this problem. Good luck.

First of all stop feeding him crap. Purina? Do you feed yourself McD's everyday? Its the same thing.

He may go to the litter box but may not be all the way trained since this is the mother's job.

He could have any host of problems OTHER than worms, he needs to see a vet.

Also, you didn't mention if he is long or short hair. If its long hair, this is normal as the poop sticks onto the hair and kittens don't know how to clean themsevles well. If this is the case, clip the but and see.

The kitten needs to go the vet anyway for shots. And if you have a problem with poop in your bed, don't let him in the bedroom.

Take it to the vet YESTERDAY. He should have been to the vet 3-4 times already. Not just for shots but for de-worming. Not all de-worming meds treat the same worms. And yes there are many different types of worms. Also there are other parasites that are not treated be de worming medication. He could have anal gland problems/infections which make him lose control.

This could be a sign of many many many different illnesses. If you don't think that you can take proper care of him, or if you are not willing to take him to the vet please take him to the shelter.

i does no longer lock it up in a showering room, that's genuinely merciless. What you ought to attempt doing is while it poops someplace else on the instant sparkling it up and placed the poop interior the clutter field. while is smells the poo interior the clutter field it may choose that it desires to circulate the place that poo is. in many cases works for my cats. And with regard to the bleeding, it must be dhiarea or an infection, i could examine with the vet on that. supply them a call, that's in many cases greater low value than taking them there.

Sorry, but vet is the answer. You should never introduce new cats to your current cats without testing for infectious diseases. Some infectious diseases are extremely contagious and life-threatening. Even if this problem goes away, you still need to get a wellness exam and vaccines from a vet.

I'm not sure what region of the country you live in or how prevalent this is there, but it sounds to my like Giardia, which is NOT a good thing to have around your kids.
Please take kitty to the vet for another fecal culture and ask them to test for Giardia or other protozoan infections, which can make the kitty/doggies poop look like it's encased in slime.
If you want to KEEP THE LITTLE DEAR, you might want to have a full lab culture run (blood, fecal and urine) to make sure there's nothing weird going on) to make sure your toddler is SAFE. He/she is your number one concern.

He needs to go to the vet. In fact, he probably should have gone awhile ago. While I praise you in rescuing the kitty, part of the responsibility of owning a pet is having to take them to the vet when something is wrong. If your kitten has had long term diarrhea, then this is something the vets needs to address. If could be anything from a food allergy to giardia to an incomplete anal sphincter. Good luck to you

A vet should assess what type of worm or parasite the little guy has and precribe the appropriate medication. He may be free of worms and still have a parasite that is making his poo too loose.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you need to take it to the vet asap. From the sounds of it, it has worms or a parasite of some sort.
