The fact is, brainwashing is real. However believing the Bible is same as believing in God. When people say they don't believe in the Bible they are saying they do not believe in God ( Jesus ). The unbelief is brought on by sin. The deeper in sin we go the further from Jesus we get. After awhile in sin the ways of God are no longer seen or known as we do not see him he does not exist, out of sight' out of mind, which is a lie. The word shall be the Judge.

When they expect God to solve the problems they created and nothing happened; then, they start looking for someone or something to blame for their own stupidity.
In the Book of Psalms, there are many passages about God helping those who are in need. They thought that by just merely praying those passages, their problems will be solved even if they just sit or sleep after that. They forgot to work on their problems instead they tried to hide away and let God solve it like superman. If nothing happens, at least there is the Bible to point to and say I do not believe it.

The wording of your question presents a faulty argument. By referring to people who believe the Bible to be untrue as "brainwashed", you commit the following logical fallacy:

Complex question / Fallacy of interrogation / Fallacy of presupposition

This is the interrogative form of Begging the Question. One example is the classic loaded question:

"Have you stopped beating your wife?"

The question presupposes a definite answer to another question which has not even been asked. This trick is often used by lawyers in cross-examination, when they ask questions like:

"Where did you hide the money you stole?"

Similarly, politicians often ask loaded questions such as:

"How long will this EU interference in our affairs be allowed to continue?" or "Does the Chancellor plan two more years of ruinous privatization?"
