I usually shut myself in my room, then I meditate on the true things of God and slowly begin to let the spirit lead me into prayer. I pray until the spirit releases. There may be a few times a day that I may be led to pray,so the key is to obey.

May the peace, blessings and mercy of God be Upon you
When I pray, I must first make then intention that I am praying to please God, I should be a purified state, and place in a clean place.
The Surah which is always said in every rakat (unit of prayer) is
Surat Al-Fatiha (The Opening)
[001.001] In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
[001.002] All the praises and thanks be to God, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
[001.003] The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
[001.004] The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)
[001.005] You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).
[001.006] Guide us to the Straight Way
[001.007] The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray.

The bible seems to often contradict itself, a common reason why a lot of people won't read it. It depends on the context. Ill be honest I'm not really THAT educated when it comes from the bible I just know the basics, but I'm guessing in this passage its not God talking to US... it could be a totally different context than you think.
I pray in my car, at work, at school... anytime I feel like talking to God for guidance or even just thankfulness.
God wants us to worship him no matter where we are. And yes, he knows what we're going through all the time, but he WANTS us to come to him about it. We're not informing him of what we need, he already knows. We're showing our faith in his deeds.

I pray at all times and in all places. I pray when I drive off in my car (and everyone who drives with me have all begun to bless themselves as well -- not because I'm a bad driver!) I pray when I feel frustrated, that God will deliver patience. i pray when I see an accident that God will be with them. I pray when I get something done -- in thanksgiving! I pray with my friends before we eat. I pray with peole on the phone, when they call for comfort.
I just prayed for you right now, that God will continue to bless you with renewed faith, hope and JOY!

And one asked of Him, "How should we pray?"
And He answered, saying, "Pray in your own fashion, as you will,
for all prayer is good. But if you wish, pray thusly:"
"Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom
come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread, and forgive us our errors, as we forgive the errors of
others. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
"And if you feel this prayer should be given to the Mother, then
let it be so."
And a Priest shouted, angrily, "Shall God be then female?"
And He answered, "The Deity is what It will be, not what you
make It into. You see the Diety in your own image; if you are vengeful,
then your God is vengeful. If you are full of hate, then your God is
hateful. But if you have love, then you shall know the Deity's love.
Listen, and be wise."
A Doctor asked Him, "Healer, what of the sick?"
"Verily, let them be healed by the knowledge of man, and by
prayer," He answered, "For whatsoever you ask in prayer, if you have
faith even as small as the tiniest grain of mustard seed, what you need
will be granted you. But be wary of what you ask for, for you will get
what you need, and not always what you want."
Well you had so many questions I had a hard time answering all.

If you understand this passage in it's correct cultural context, you would understand that where it says to go into your room & close the door is actually a reference to the Jewish prayer shawl that devout Jewish men, such as Jesus would have had, would wear.
