Chao (español) = bye
'Ciao' is Italian and means "hello" or "bye".

Ciao, pronounced "chow," is Italian and is a hello or goodbye salutation. The Spanish equivalent would be: "¡Hola!" for 'hello,' and "Adios," or "hasta luego" for 'goodbye.' Of course, many Spanish speaking people simply use the Italian greeting... Ciao! Very continental!
