Some don't care. I think others are just trying to take short cuts with their spelling. I agree with you though. People need to take pride in what they ask and how they ask it. To come across sounding like an sloppy person is shamefull. You discribe who you are and how you are when you do things that distinguish you from others.

I think I see this question as good as every time I log on to Y!A, you should do a Y!A search and find the previous questions, there are plenty of good answers there.

Not everyone that come here are English speaking, and some have dyslexia or other learning disabilities to top it off. Some of us use browsers that doesn't support spell check. (Yes I'm talking about the Yahoo one.) Not that it matters much since spell check doesn't correct grammar. Then there are those who see this as just another chat room and use chat/net speak because it's faster. Also consider that many posters are children. I believe the age limit is 13 years. And there are those that really don’t care about how their writings make them look as long as they get their “voice” heard.

I've written more and deeper thoughts before on the topic, but frankly my dear I can't be ar*ed to do it again. I just want to point out that what seem easy and obvious to you isn’t that easy and obvious to everyone.

Nowadays it's believed to be a lack of self-pride.

People would rather "go along with the crowd" than stand-up and show they're intelligent.

What's really scary? These same people who can't seem to spell well and simply cannot compose English into readable sentences are the future leaders of tomorrow!

It's called "Online Chat". Its been a part of the so-called "Online Culture" since chatrooms were made avaliable. Have you been hiding under a rock for 10 years? Apparentl. The 90's were good!

NOTE TO EVERRRRRYYYYYOOOONNNE: Don't ask this question again. It's just a bit OBVIOUS we don't give anything about how we spell or how our grammar is, because, in the cyber world, there is no such thing as English!

I think it's mostly due to the fact that they are, by and large, young. It also seems many people don't read very much, even for pleasure, and reading and books are where you learn spelling and grammar.
