It is turning black because it is dying. Suck it up. You were man enough to get in to a fist fight, now be man enough to fix that smile.

No it won't fall out. It is getting darker because the root is dying and there is no blood supply to it. Sooner or later it will become infected and start to abscess. If you have a good dentist, maybe you can get in for an emergency root canal. If not, you are just going to be in alot of pain for awhile till you can get into the dentist. May as well go now and get it over with, or have it pulled. That will solve your fears.

I recently got hit in the mouth. Have to wait to see the dentist to make sure the punch didn't damage the root. If it did the dentist said I would need a root canal to fix the root so i don't lose the tooth. Get it done unless you want fake teeth later.

Sounds like the nerve in your tooth got damaged when you got hit. The blackening of the tooth is probably from the tooth dying because of this injury. I've heard that a root canal isn't that bad, you should probably have one done if your dentist suggests it.

If you want to save the tooth, you will need a root canal and then a post and crown. You're only other option is to have the tooth pulled and a partial put in.

Teeth darken when the blood flow to the root is intererrupted or damaged. You should see a dentist immediately. You may be loosing the tooth.

You killed the nerve, bro.
You can only get it root canaled or porcelain veneers.
If you don't want to do the root canal and are looking for something that hurts less, the veneers are not the way to go.
Fixing dying/dead nerves hurts plenty.

My dad got hit in the tooth by a baseball as a kid, but it didn't knock out his tooth. It did, however, damage the nerve to his tooth. The doctor said it would have been better if the tooth would have been cleanly knocked out -- they could have just reinserted the tooth. Ever since that event, that one tooth in his mouth has had an odd off-white hue. You should talk to a periodontist or an oral surgeon.
