that what is good for the individual is not good for the human race as a whole, when it comes to a belief in god?

Religious wars have destroyed millions of lives and there is no end in sight. But religious leaders tell everyone that theirs is the only way.

I find that followers of religions take it upon themselves to interpret what has been said (Bible, Quran, etc...) to suit their own interests. Because of this, conflicts occur.

The biggest problem with this is that there is a lack of tolerence on everyone's part. It really all boils down to a respect for life in general, and for people and what they believe. Can we want everyone to convert to our faith? SURE. But to begin wars over it contradicts belief in love and hope (on any religions part).
We can't just blame this on religion. People are just very selfish. In the news I just heard that a man set a woman's body on fire; I doubt it was over religion. Unfortunately, some people are stupid.

No one religion is more moral, humane or frankly, rational over the other. These ideologies are just tools for manipulation and are absurdly self-contracting.
