I have been raising cats for over 30 years, it is fine to use the old litterbox. Just make sure you clean it good first with a 1 part bleach to 10 parts water mixture to kill any germs and smells. The cat will take to it fine. I know, I have done it several times.

I have three cats myself and i just want to tell you that you can use the litter box but you have to give it a thorough cleaning. My cats use all the same litter box (well we have 2 litter boxes). I don't see the problem but don't forget to clean it out for hygienic reasons.

You should definitly clean out the old litter box if you try using that. Your new cat may smell the old cat and refuse to use the old cats box. That would get messy quickly for you. Best of luck with your new cat

Hi there...it's always best to start with a unusued litter box not only is it more hygenic, but cats in general are naturally territorial and may avoid using litter boxes that other cats have soiled.

no you should get a new one because there is a good chance your new kitten will smell the other cat on the old litter box because so I suggest you should get a new one.

If you used liners in the box, then you probably can use it again after a good deodorizing. If you didn't/don't plan to use liners, then it would be a better idea to get a new box. Cats' noses are very acute and you want the newbie to feel it's his box.

I would personally start a new cat out with a new litter box..then he/she has their own scent in it and will probably not have any problems adjusting

You should be fine. Most cats use a box because they were trained by their mothers. I would disinfect it very well though before you allow the other cat to use it. Just a great safety factor.

if you clean it very good. maybe even bleach it. if your new cat smells the old one in there then the new cat may not go in the litter box
