I have lots of batch files downloaded programs(example. Resource Hacker,Internet Explorer 7,Limewire Pro,WMP10,Ad-aware,Batch to exe converter.Lots of things like this I dont want to lose.Would saved .reg files still import on Vista.I have batch files to change and delete registry settings when reinstalling XP. Thanks

registry files are not going to import over to Vista. a lot of older 16-bit software isn't going to be compatible with Vista either. IE 7 is well integrated into Vista so that shouldn't be an issue. Stuff like Adaware you may not even need because of the way that Vista isolates components of the OS and prevents them from communicating with each other, plus there's Windows Defender built into it.

I think Vista is 64 bit, most programs today are 32 bit, some of them will not work.

No, not all software is compatable. When you try to upgrade the software will check what you have any tell you if it is not compatable.
