I got my cartilage pierced 4 days ago..I've been cleaning it 3 times a day with the antiseptic stuff they gave me but the cartilage is EXTREMELY SORE. I know it's normal to be sore but like to the point that if I accidently rub against it taking off my shirt or something I will scream, lol. There's also a little bruising around it...It's slightly red and warm to the touch..Is it infected? If so, what should I do? (I REALLY dont want to take it out!)

It is fine. Trust me. The first 2 weeks after getting pierced are the worst and you have to be real careful when changing or it will hurt bad. After that you should see noticable difference. Mine would throb for almost an hour after the littlest bump. But after those 2 weeks it didnt hurt near as bad.
It's good that you are cleaning it with the stuff they gave you. What you might also want to try is sea salt soaks twice a day before cleaning. This will help clean out your ear and promote healing. Its what the piercers tell you to do if you get an infection. Take a cup of warm water and a teaspoon of sea salt and hold it up to your ear for 10 min. My ear feels so much better after I do this.
If you have any more questions feel free to email me!!

Redness, swelling and warmth can be the early signs of an infection. Swelling and pain can also come from direct trauma to a particular site. You may also be having a reaction to the type of metal that is used with that particular piercing. If the redness and pain starts to spread to the rest of your ear, it would be best to remove the piercing and allow the cartilidge to heal and try it again in a month or two. If you are dead set on not removing the piercing, you can try to take some advil or motrin to help with the inflammation and pain. Be aware of some of the complications that go with an untreated infection. They are increased swelling and pain, physical damage to the site in which the piercing will then definitly have to come out. The tissue at the infected site will change and make it difficult for a future piercing. I some cases of infection, surgery is required and removal of tissue because it is no longer viable. I can't exactly tell you if your ear is getting infected without actually seeing it. You are welcome to send me a pic and I might be able to better determine whether or not it is truly becoming infected.

thats probably normal, your probably just a little sensitive to whatever the earing is made of. I surrgest that you purchase an earing for sensitive ears and when your ear is feeling less sore, replace it and clean it good, so the healing process can continue!! good luck!!
