My mother raised German Shepherds and me and my brothers grew up with this breed. I still love them for their intelligence and loyalty.
No dog is a dangerous dog if treated and raised properly. Some breeds are prone to more aggression and protectiveness than others though.
This said. I wouldn't recommend a shepherd for an inexperienced or first time dog owner. They're highly intelligent and they need a strong leader. Unfortunately, a lot of people are attracted to the breed for their alleged reputation and do result in a very dangerous dog, in some cases by choice, and in others becuase they have no clue. The same could be said about pit bulls, rotties, dobies and some other breeds.
But I've also seen dangerous retrievers and labs and more nastly little lap dogs in my life than I care to.
it all comes down to proper care and training. And if a dog didn't get this in the first case, knowing this and knowing how the overcome it (because thankfully a lot of behavior can be re-learned or trained) is mandatory.
Nevertheless, wouldn't ever advise leaving a child alone with a strange or unknown dog. particularly if you don't know how the dog is with children.

If that is a valid question, then you might as well ask if any dog is a dangerous pet! If you buy a properly trained dog, then no harm will ever come to you. However, if you purchase a stray, rogue, or improperly trained dog, then anything could happen. For 15 years now my family has owned a dog that is an Alaska Husky/Wolf mix, and she is perfectly wild and untrained. I have been bitten a few times by her when I got too close to her food dish...I suppose it was the "protect my kill" instinct in her. But what I"m trying to say is that if the dog is trained, then it will be a good dog. With an untrained dog anything can happen. It all really depends on his background.

Any dog can be dangerous. It all depends on how the owner trains them. If you train it to be aggressive, it will be, because that's all it knows how to be. But if you train it correctly, then there shouldn't be any problems. German Shepherds are great dogs, very loyal.

No, they are not dangerous unless tought to be, or not trained properly. German Shepherds can be GREAT companions. Just do research on the breed, and make sure you take your dog/puppy to obedience classes so you know how to properly train and socialize them.

I own a GSD and he is a loving, loyal and extremely intelligent animal. he is beyond excellent with my children, but he also knows I am the alpha dog and has gone through training classes. any dog can be dangerous, it is just a matter of how they are trained and socialized.
