It's a hangover from Christianity's origins in a patriarchal near eastern social milieu. A lot of liberal Christians these days are willing to give equal time to calling God "mother."

Christians are taught to call God "Father" by the example of Jesus. Why "Father?" The idea is that it is a word that is supposed to invoke the idea of one who is in close relationship to us who gives life, loves, nurtures, protects, etc. And since women were seen as inferior by that culture at that time, it was a male figure who fit the bill, so to speak.
As far as I know, current human language doesn't have a word to fit God, so even though we know that God is beyond gender, Christians still call God "Father."

If you called him anything else wouldn't that skew the whole Mary as mother thing? Is he supposed to have two mothers? Are we talking parthenogenisis? What? "Jesus Has Two Moms"? Food for thought.

The word is "inappropriate" and, as far as I can recall, the Christian god is male. And anyway, Christians make up rules as they go along.

I do not mean to step on toes here, but...you have a deep wound from the primary man in your life. Maybe he was weak, or abusive? You are projecting onto G-d your issues with your earthly father.
I, too, had to deal with this.
Please read my last answer prior to this one...to answer your question.
I respect that you are logical in your questions. You are searching; this is good.

no he is a male as it says in the bible. how could he be nothing, especially after he made man in his image including the sex organs. (he made man perfect but he sinned and sin passed on to us so Jesus died on the cross so that we can be forgiven of our sins and repent and have our sins washed with his blood and walk in grace and enter into true salvation).
