I'm asking this question after recently watching "The little Buddha". What do these monks who search for their reincarnated teachers hope to find?

the next Lama....
and it isn't just about picking someone out of a crowd
the child has to recognise things from his past life and prove he is who they are looking for ... there are many signs they look for

i am buddhist...let me ask you a simple question for your level of interpretation... if someone close to you,loved and respected by you will tomorrow die...and you know it will reincarnate....will you search for this person? i repeat...this is only a question for your level...easier for you to understand...it doesn't reflect the truth in its entire shape...
