In the Bible certain numbers have significance beyond the obvious. The number 144,000 is 12 times 12,000. Twelve is chosen to reflect the 12 tribes of Israel. Of course when this was written 10 of the 12 tribes had been lost for about 600 years. There were conquered by the Assyrians. So when the 144,000 are mentioned in Revelations it indicates the return all tribes, in all people, and over twelve times a thousand. These numbers mean that all the chosen people of God will be completed to perfection. It is just the opposite of being exclusive. It is just the opposite of be small. It encompasses perfection.

The 144,000 will have the seal of God on their foreheads to protect them. They will be male Jews (undefiled by women), 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes. Their job will be to witness to the Jews before the final wrath.

They will not be the Jehovah Witnesses nor will they be gentiles, the bible is very specific about their blood lineage to the 12 tribes. The Jews wouldn't listen to 144,000 JW's or gentiles, so not only is it biblical that they're of Jewish blood, it's also logical.

Chef Bob: Read Revelation, its mentions the 144,000 very specifically, therefore its totally biblical. Of course it has nothing to do with Jehovah Witnesses, but that's their own twisted interpretation. How in the world they figure they're the 144,000 I have no idea, but it's completely irrational.

Because it's symbolic, 144=12^2. Multiplying an amount by itself in Roman/Greek society around 90AD was a symbolic reference of the entire within. This 144 represents that members of all 12 tribes or sons of Abraham shall be saved, 1000 was commonly understood as 10*10*10 which was also interpreted as the entire amount of, in this case the entire amount of the sons of Abraham will be saved.

As the song says:

Father Abraham had many sons
Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let's all praise the Lord.

So all faithful will be saved.

Jehovah's Witnesses will tell you that those are the saved from their church, and only from their church.

They get the number itself from Revelation 7:4
"And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:"

But the JW's are not Israel, not even a tribe of Israel. Also, they have far more than 144,000 members in their church today, not counting all those who have died!

This is only a small part of their heresy, which also denys the deity of Christ Jesus by saying that he was the created archangel Michael. But Michael the arch angel argued with Satan over the body of Moses:

But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Jude 1:9

If Michael invoked the Name of the Lord to rebuke Satan, but did not do it in is own authority, then he is not equal to the Lord!

I could go on and on, but enough for now.

12,000 from each tribe of Jersalem. They're Jewish people. If you didn't notice, so many jewish people have been kill that there's only 12 million real Jews left (according my school history book)...

The Gentiles (Christians) just go to heaven before the apocalypse

Kinda makes sense to me... even the holocaust is part of a greater purpose.. So many jewish people are being killed now that soon there will only be 144,000.... HINT HINT END OF THE WORLD...

yeah.

Ask a Jehovah's Witness.

Apparently, they're the ones who follow that rule the closest.

But if South Park is right, the Mormons go to heaven.

Remember that the Bible was written a looooong time ago. Adjust that number for inflation!

12 thousand descendants from each of the 12 tribes that were with Moses, there will also be a multitude of Gentiles which is probably a few more million people.
