Installed and not pirated. Error: The operating system is presently not configured to run this application. I need help to get it working again, and will my files be lost?

I'm using XP and it was just working?

It requires Ms. Windows XP (Home or Pro) 32 bit or 64 bit along with Service Pack 2.
It won't install without the SP2.
The error is probably due to the absence of the service pack. Install it - get it from Microsoft Website.
Ms. Office 2003 works on Mac, Linux, BSD via Wine Emulator. Ms. Office 2007 does not - only on Windows XP with SP2 installed.
Backup your files in case you're worried - copy them on a cd or usb flash drive. You can open them later on another office suite.

Office 11 will not install on Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, Millennium Edition (Me) or NT 4.0, a source of controversy in some circles.

I think this is for a Mac. You should have specified this because I've never heard of it.
In the Yahoo search box, type Microsoft Office 11. Many helpful web sites displayed.
