How can you choose your personality when you can't choose what you remember?

Personality can be only steered, not changed. You can emphasize the pleasant parts or the unpleasant. Likewise with memory. If you want to remember this answer, you can, but if you don't, it will pass into the oblivion.

You do choose your personality and you do choose what you remember. Your body consciousness is like a computer. You can access memories you would find mind-blowing.
