Cristina Saralegui- Is like the Oprah of the latin community she is very well known for her work and assistance to the public in all their needs.

Don Francisco- Is also a spanish TV host, he has two very popular shows on the Univision network. He is very well know for giving all those aspiring singers a shot at fame, and thanks to him so many made it when no one thought they would.

Selena- Was a very well known and very loved Tajano singer. And although she was Mexican American during her short lived life she was of great assistance to the needy and poor.

Cesar Chavez- 1927—93, American agrarian labor leader, b. near Yuma, Ariz. A migrant worker, he became involved (1952) in the self-help Community Service Organization (CSO) in California, working among Mexicans and Mexican Americans; from 1958 to 1962 he was its general director. In 1962, he left the CSO to organize wine grape pickers in California and formed the National Farm Workers Association. Using strikes, fasts, picketing, and marches, he was able to obtain contracts from a number of major growers. In 1966 his organization merged with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee of the AFL-CIO to form the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee of the AFL-CIO. Chavez also launched (1968) a boycott against the table grape growers, mobilizing consumer support throughout the United States. In 1972 the United Farm Workers (UFW), with Chavez as president, became a member union of the AFL-CIO. Chavez expanded its efforts to include all California vegetable pickers and launched a lettuce boycott, as well as extending his organizational efforts to Florida citrus workers. His successes in California were sharply diminished, however, as the result of a jurisdictional dispute with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters over the organization of field workers. In 1973 the Teamsters cut heavily into UFW membership by signing contracts with former UFW grape growers, but Chavez renewed the grape workers' strike. In 1977, the two unions signed a pact defining the types of workers each could organize. Membership in the UFW later fell, in part due to disputes between Chavez and his followers, some of whom accused him of nepotism.

Emiliano Zapata- Revolutionary

Born: 8 August 1879
Birthplace: Anenecuilco, Morelos, Mexico
Died: 10 April 1919 (assassination)
Best Known As: Peasant hero of the Mexican Revolution
Emiliano Zapata is the Mexican rebel leader who said "It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees." A former sharecropper, he organized and led peasants during the battles of the Mexican Revolution, joining forces with Pancho Villa and others to fight the government of Porfirio Diaz. Zapata supported agrarian reform and land redistribution; his rallying cry was "Land and freedom!" (His positions attracted the support of some urban intellectuals, who linked him to the theories of Karl Marx.) Though Diaz was defeated, Zapata continued to resist subsequent government leaders; he was ambushed and shot by Mexican troops in 1919. Zapata remains a folk hero in Mexico, where his name has often been invoked by rebels like Subcommander Marcos.

Zapata was played by actor Marlon Brando in the 1952 movie Viva Zapata! (John Steinbeck won an Oscar nomination for the screenplay; Anthony Quinn won an Oscar as Zapata's brother Eufemio)... Zapata's cry of "Land and freedom" (Tierra Y Libertad) is sometimes translated as "Land and justice."
