I am getting married in a Justice of the Peace, and I want it to be as generic as possible; I'm renewing my vows later in October, with a traditional church wedding. What do I have to do in order to plan the Justice of the Peace wedding? What dress is appropriate? I'd appreciate some of your responses! :)

Weddrev- What do you mean? That the emotions won't be the same, and the Oct. wedding will lose some of the emotional value? I think this is what you mean, just making sure! :) Thank you for your response!

The thing is, I just found out I'm pregnant, so we would like to do this now...

Did you ever see the movie "wedding planner" with Jennifer Lopez? At the end when she went to the justice of the peace, she wore a white dress but it was short and had long sleeves and she wore a little hat.
I thought it was elegant yet simple. Maybe you could play off of that for ideas.
I loved her dress so much I tried to find something similar when I got married last year!
Hope this helps. =)

I'd think to get married at the justice of the peace, all you would really need is your marriage license and an appointment with the justice of the peace. Maybe you should wear a nice white or pretty pastel dress or dress suit.

I would keep your Justice of the Peace 'wedding' as simple as possible by wearing a simple, but nice outfit that you already own, and focus your time, energy, and funds into your traditional church wedding. That said why not wait until Oct. to wed, forgo the Justice of the Peace wedding, and save yourself the stress.

You will need to apply for a marriage license firstly and meet all the requirements for you and your fiance to receive it. From there, an appointment may need to be made with your local Justice of the Peace to schedule the exchanging of vows. As far as dress, this is entirely up to you. You may be as formal or casual as you wish. Generally, I would say to keep your "wedding" dress for your traditional ceremony and wear whatever you deem appropriate, if even a nice "Sunday" dress for the JoP occassion.

Good Luck!

My husband and I basically did the same thing for our own reasons. For the JP ceremony we wore normal everyday clothes, no bouquet or party afterwards. Just two friends to sign as witnesses and a simple dinner on the town. Don't worry, if you are really in love your formal wedding will still mean all as much. I was still totally nervouse walking down that aisle, like I never married that gorgeous man waiting for me at the end. Good luck.

I would wear a very nice dress....something in a color that you like and that becomes you.

Since you're getting married again in October I don't think I'd wear white....I save it until the traditional wedding.

you really don't have to get really dress up for the justice of the peace. maybe a nice dress and some flowers. but for the big wedding get the whole thing, gown , flowers etc. congradulations

I got married 5 years ago in a court house and I wore a nice pair of dress pants and a nice shirt. So it doesn't really matter what you wear.
