I just noticed yesterday that my right middle finger is swollen, warm to touch and slightly discolored. I know that this is probably an infection but are there any home remedies I can do without spending unnecessary dollars for a doctor's visit?

Yes, you can soak it in warm salt water, then use some peroxide on it to kill the germs, dry with clean cloth then put antibiotic ointment on any area of open skin and keep it clean, bandage if you need to during the day to keep it clean and then let it air at home. You can buy a tube of itchimol...black salve at the drug store. It is a drawing ointment that draws out the infection. Works for lots of things. Good luck. Keep up the soaks though.

Do you have a cut or open area on your finger? If so you probably could soak it in Epsom Salt and apply antibiotic ointment and hopefully that should help heal the area.

Is there a cut on your finger? If so, soak your hand as often as possible in warm water with betadine, peroxide, epsom salt, dish soap, mixture. If there is no cut, you may have dislocated your finger.
