Dogs cannot break down and properly digest components in chocolate, grapes, and caffeine products. As a result it is actually toxic to dogs. How much is too toxic? Size of the dog is a factor but not the only factor. Ask yourself this, if rat poison is toxic to your pet, would you ever consider feeding them even a small amount? Of course not! So why chance it with any of those products either? Don't let your pet develop a taste for something that could be lethal to them and they will be less likely to get into it if you forget and leave some out. Also be aware that you are making health choices for your dog by the food and treats you give it. If your dog develops diabetes and has a shorter life or poorer quality of life, was it worth it?

Not to sound like a broken record, but please don't feed your dog anymore chocolate. Even a little bit can be lethal to your dog over time. I've seen chocolate flavored doggie treats at some retailers. I've never tried any for my dogs but if he doesn't like them then it may be time to get him used to a different kind of treat.

OH MY GOSH!! Chocolate is TERRIBLE for dogs, they can die. NEVER EVER give them chocolate all dogs are allergic to it. But there is Doggy Chocolate, i never got any but i know there is. Try it. If your dog doesn't like it then don't give it normal Hershey's Chocolate because unless you want to murder your dog I wouldn't give it ANY chocolate.

Talk to your veterinarian, because there are lots of treats that dogs like, that are also good for them. As you've read, chocolate is Toxic to dogs. So you can try baby carrots, green beans, a small piece of cheese. Some dogs even like yogurt, and celery. Talk to your veterinarian and find out which foods are toxic to dogs, and avoid those. Also ask them for other things that they recommend.

Try doggie ice cream or Carob cookies. Carob is safe for your dog, unlike chocolate.

Flea Hater's Dog Biscuits
marthastewart.com archives

Brewers yeast is a natural anti-flea remedy.

Makes about 5 dozen bone biscuits
1 cup flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup brewer’s yeast (available at health-food stores)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
1 clove garlic, chopped medium
1/2 cup chicken stock plus 3 tablespoons for basting

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Mix flour, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, and salt together in a medium bowl. In a mixing bowl, combine oil and garlic. Alternately add 1/2 cup chicken stock and flour mixture in 3 parts; mix until well combined. Knead about 2 minutes by hand on floured surface; dough will be sticky.

2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out about 3/8 inch thick. Cut out bone shapes; place on prepared baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes, rotate baking sheet, and baste with remaining 3 tablespoons chicken stock. Bake 10 minutes longer. Turn off oven, leaving oven door closed. Leave pan in oven for 1 1/2 hours longer

You better be kidding- Chocolate is extremely toxic to dogs. Believe me, I worked for a vet and we had a dog came in that ate 3 hershey dark chocolate bars- we had to wear raincoats because the diarahhea was so severe. The grossest part is that it SMELT like chocolate. $3000 later after activiated charcoal and x-rays, the dog died.

PLEASE do not feed your dog chocolate!! I owned a pekinges puppy whom the previous owner fed him choclate every day. It almost killed him!

I would suggest carob. Go to a health food store and they should have many selections of carob bars. I now make my own doggie treats with carob in them.

Good luck!
