I use a straightening iron, but the ends tend to curl as the day goes on.
Any tips on how to keep my hair straight througout the day?
I've just bought a straightening gel, but I have no idea how to use it. How do you use a straightening gel? And are straightening gels really effective for keeping your hair straight?

Thanks for all the tips!!! :)

Straightening gel is used after you shower. Just comb it through your hair. Blow Dry and then straighten.

A straightening gel you put in your hair after getting out of the shower, so that it can dry on your hair. Apply a liberal amount of your hair is really thick and curly. They can be affective if you find the right one. for example, don't use one that's not so strong if your hair is really, really prone to curling before it should. Also, when you straighten make sure you do it in small sections of hair at a time so that you really get each strand to straighten out.

i've never used a straightening gel.... there's no instructions on the package?? i'd imagine that you just run it through wet hair with your fingers, comb through, blow dry, and straighten as usual... but that's just my guess with my experience in using hair products.

i do have some tips though.. after you straighten with an iron, blow dry with the COOL setting. this will close the hair folicals, prevent fly aways, and set the style. then, spritz it with a little bit of hair spray to hold the straightness some more.. also, try not to touch your hair too much. the oil in your fingers makes your hair greasier and will make the natural curl come out prematurely.

well
1.make sure your hair is COMPLETELY dry before straightening, because some people hair if it air drys it curls a little
2. make sure you use creme that keeps your hair from heat damage and straighten your hair on full blast heat
3. a LITTLE hair spray always helps
4. apply the gel to your hands and gently comb it through your hair if you use a good kind of gel it can REALLY help
5. also use HERBAL ESSENCES DANGEROUSLY STRAIGHT shampoo and conditioner when showering because it makes hair much straighter!

I have really curly long hair. It is dark too (a lot of ppl with dark hair has thick hair-mine is). When I want to wear it straight, I sampoo it then while it is still wet I put freeze ease hair serum in it-just not too much. Don't wash it out. Then I towel dry it. Then I put freeze ease hair straightener creme in it. Then i let it dry for a few minutes until it is only damp. Then I blow dry it with a flat brush. Then hairspray it. works until next sampoo, and there is no puffiness. If it works for my hair, it will probably for most others-if not all.

sounds like the straightening iron isnt working the best. Try the CHI iron. It works like magic!! A little on the spendy side but my friend has thick tight curls and she swears by it. Try also using Paul Mitchells Super skinny serum. you only need one pump and smooth it through all over before using the iron. makes your hair feel super silky and straight all day.

The absolute best is a product called Straighten Out from FX Special Effects. You can get it at any Walgreens, CVS, etc. You'll love it!
