My lab was 5 wks when he contracted very severe Parvo. He lost 3/4 of his body weight, but eventually pulled through. He is 8 mos now but does not have much stamina. He can only play briefly without resting. I would like to know of any symptoms of the after effects of Parvo if anyone has been through this horrible, frightening ordeal with a pet.

You should check with your vet to see if he administerd the Parvo vacination. If he did your pup is safe. If not then you should get him in and get him vacinated.

You shouldn't have any residual problems with your pup. Just keep a close eye on him.

Don't listen to the BYB who is clueles above me...troxie79. She is a BYB that is CLUELESS!!!!

Your dog can have a problem with the teeth for life. Many parvo puppies vomit a lot and it CAN cause problems with the tooth enamel. Not common, but it happens. Some dogs will always be more prone to intestional upset.

They really should recover well. At 5 weeks a pup would be hit much harder than a 5 or 6 month old. You should talk to your vet and have them give their 2 cents. There could be something else going on.

I had a Boxer that had severe parvo at 9 weeks of age. He was much smaller than what a Boxer should be. As an adult he weighed only 45 pounds. As far as health problems there were none. By now your dog should have improved with his activity.Check with your vet, something definetly is going on.

Once a puppy has parvo, they can get it again so please be sure to stay current on vaccines. I would ask your vet about him not having much energy yet. He should have fully recovered by now. Always best to be on the safe side!

I work at a vet office and once your dog has parvo and maked it he cant get it again so your wasting money on vaccinations, your vet won;t tell you but if you ask he has to ( this is one of the ways they make money) Some dogs are a little weaker after having parvo.Kinda depends on the dog.
