Everyone is different when it comes to tolerance of pain and what they even consider to be painful...also some artists tattoo more gently than others and that can make a huge difference. Certain places on the body hurt more than others...When I got my tattoos done, the artist who did my tattoos said that she gets complaints most while tattooing calves, the ribcage, and around the arms, but like I said everyone is different.

The cost of the tattoo doesn't always depend on the size, but how much detail and time is involved and also, some places charge a certain price for tattooing a certain area of the body, some spots are harder to tattoo than others. Give an artist your ideas and ask he/she to give you an estimate.

I am not sure of the pain aspect in terms of your chest but cost will really depend on the artist, size and amount of detail in the tattoo. Your best bet would be to go into a place and speak with them and they will quote you a price....different places = different prices...BUT - if you want a good tattoo, be willing to pay for them....cheap tattoo does not mean good tattoo

I once asked my grandfather if the water in his pond was cold. He picked me up and through me in. I came out of the water shivering I asked him, 'Why did you do that?' He said, 'to give you the best answer to your question.'

What I am trying to say is that as far as the pain factor, only the experience will tell you.

As to the cost. How big, color, what of? These are questions only your tattooist can tell you.

It sounds like you don't have any ink picked out. Make sure you want it before you do it. Cover ups are a *****. Luckily, all my tattoos are good and keepers.

Have fun.

Any area that doesn't have a lot of tissue is going to hurt like a motha'....

Regarding the cost...remember..you get what you pay for..this is something perm on your body...don't go cheap. Ask around...friends, co-workers, people on the street you see with a cool tattoo... A recommended person who's work you've seen is the best way to go... Good Luck!

Not that pain full. It depends on the detail and the size of your tattoo. It can cost anywhere from 30 to 500. I would contact some artists give them your idea and they can give you a price.
Good luck.

One of the lads that I used to work with had a tattoo over his heart and he said it hurt like hell. I've got 6 but have never had one on my chest so I can't really help.

Anything above your heart will hurt more. The cost of the tattoo depends on the size. ;)

I've got a tatto and it hurt like heck getting it put on my upper shoulder.

Put the tatto someplace not easily seen because later on you are going to regret getting it and you'll be able to hide it under a T-shirt.

my husband has one, he got it about a month ago and it hurt real bad. but this weekend he is getting some more work on it so it must not have been so bad that he'd never want to do it again. it took about three hours. our artist charges by the hour. some artists charge by the size.
