Doesn't seem possible.....the plan seems as though they are placing them directly in harms way....going from house to house and actually staying in the area's they "sweep"....seems incredibly naive to think there will not a be a significant amout of US casualties?

I wish that there was an honest argument against your worry, but I too am forced to admit that the 'house to house' sweeps will invariably get our troops injured
If Rumsfeld and Bush would have conducted this war in accordance with our military's capabilities, you wouldn't have been prompted to ask this question.

That isnt the plan. That has been tried and completed several times and we really didnt lose many personel, by conventional standards. I think this time the surge is meant to boost personel training Iraqi units, and reconstruction projects. Also I think they are going to disarm iraqi militias, like the Mahdi army. Which is long overdue. 1000 U.S. casualties wouldnt be considered much in any other war, but you have nothing to fear because we hae only suffered 3000 in four years, the insurgents dont have the firepower necessary to inflict a thousand casualties on us within a month.

You can't even sweep through Philly or New Orleans without losing Americans (5 a day between those 2 cities).

Why shouldn't this time be any different from the other times we conducted similar sweeps without losing many military personnel.
Do you think that Baghdad is some sort of enemy stronghold or something?

It will be another Falluja. Definitely gonna see some action. Burn baby burn is gonna be the theme song as the troops go stormin in. Blood's gonna run in the streets. I predict over 1000 US deaths but hey, what are soldiers for? Rememeber playing army when we were kids? Hell, a bag of plastic soldiers was cheap. Just like real soldiers, well, sort of. Anyway, they're all equally expendable.
