if there really was no God how could he offend you. I bet you don't go and tell crazy people in mental institutes that they are stupid and wrong... so if in your opinion we're crazy, then leave us alone, unless you really do want to know about God which i suspect each of you do or you wouldn't care enough to even get on here.
and for all of you planning to call me stupid and say i'm putting myself down, i don't care, i know my God is real and i know his children will be rewarded after death with eterna life... so bring it on cuz God is on my side!!

They're trying to save you heart-ache and disappointment and stuff like that, I'd IMAGINE, since I'm not an atheist, I don't know, I'm just guessing. What I want to know, is: if gay people are happy and kind to each other, why are Christians telling them their damned, going to burn eternally and evil?
SEE THE SIMILARITIES? BOTH are trying to "help" others, BUT NOT REALLY!

I don't think christians are crazy OR stupid. Please don't lump all of us atheists together, just as you christians do not like to be lumped together. I have christian friends and all my family is christian. Everyone has a right to believe or not believe as they choose.
BTW...I have had MANY christians here on yahoo tell me I am evil and immoral because I am an atheist. Do you believe that of all atheists? Yes , there are some radical atheists here, just like there are some radical christians here. But they are the minority. So lets get along and not lump each other in those groups. Ok? :)
Oh yes...I was raised christian and did a great deal of study on ALL religions during my spritual quest. I know alot about the christian god, so no I am NOT here to try to learn more. Sometimes I wish I could unlearn what I do know.

I care because I've noticed a lot of you don't even know what you believe in, it's rare to find a Christian that realizes all of the horrendous things God has done. I've listed them so many times I'm tired.
I've recently been trying to get Christians to unite to better this world and not worry about the next life. i keep saying if 2 billion Christians united to end war, poverty, hunger, etc. life would be much better. I say this and get thumbs downs, isn't that a good thing to want?
Oh and people in mental institutes all ready know they're crazy and wrong, that's why they are there, why tell them again. Really read the bible word for word (p.s. the O.T. counts too) and see what I mean about your God.
So in conclusion I care because you could all think like me, and we could make this world better.

We *don't* care if you believe in god or not. If you want to live in a delusional fairy-tale world, I have no problem at all with that. Go ahead. I don't care.
I *do* care if you try to teach your fairy-tale superstitions as science in schools. I *do* care if you want to legislate your ancient, outdated, and bigoted biblical morality as law. I *do* care if you want to run US policy based on a book of silly superstitious nonsense.
So tell you what: you stay out of government, and I'll stay out of your superstitions. You mess with my secular government, and you'll get a fight out of me for sure.
I already know all about "god" (of course, some of the details depend on which one you're talking about, because there are thousands of 'em, and not even all christians believe in the same "god") -- he's a myth entirely made up by people who wanted to control the masses, or who feared death. There's no evidence of any kind that any "god" is real. If you still want to believe in one despite the absolute and complete lack of evidence...well, I feel sorry for you, but I don't care :)
Peace.

You can believe whatever you want. It's not all christians (or theists in general for that matter) whom we have a problem with, it's the one's who think they are justified in starting wars, teaching religion in science class, legislating their absolutist moral laws in secular society, etc. We wish to challenge the conventional ideas that religion preaches, because in the past and even in the present many of those ideas have done a lot of harm. Religiously devout aren't crazy by psychological standards, but some of them do crazy things that put the rest of us in danger. It's my world too, I wish that everyone would treat it with some respect.

Because if they picked on any other group like they do christians, they'd get their heads bashed in. These are kids who were most likely bullied in school, so they have deep emotional issues. To try to deal with it, they try to bully and insult others on the net (of course no one can really bash their heads in here) to the only group they know of that wouldn't hurt them even if they weren't hiding behind a computer screen.
(Not all atheists, real atheists don't even bother hanging out at a site they have no interest in, but it does apply to rabid ones we have on YA).

I care because belief in god(s) is delusional behaviour. Delusions of one kind make you more prone to delusions of other sort. People with religious delusions are in positions of political power and can pass laws influenced by religious delusions that affect my life. People with magical thinking in positions of power have access to the military, and weapons of mass destruction.
People who believe bizarre unprovable things try to get those same things taught to innocent children in school.
I don't know if you are stupid, though you seem immature, but I do know you are delusional. You don't KNOW your god is real, you believe it to be so,
you hope it is so,
you have blind faith that it is so.
you've been told all your life it is so by people you trust
However, none of that actually makes it so

I don't think you're crazy. Nor do I care. My only problem with Christians is legislating their beliefs in a country that supposedly has freedom of religion written into its backbone document. Do whatever you want, just don't force me to abide by your beliefs.

No, I don't care. And no I am not offended by something I don't believe in, that is just weird.
What I do care about and get offend by is idiots who call us out like this because apparently they DO care so much that we don't believe what they do.
I mean, this question would not exist if it were not for likely insecurity on your part...

For the millionth time, believe whatever the hell you want. But don't try to make your theology into law if you've got nothing to back it up except 'god said so'. Don't let people discriminate against homosexuals, don't let people stop women from getting necessary health care, and don't let people interfere with science and education. That's what we see religion doing every day, and that's why we care what you believe in - because somehow you've managed to push it on everyone else.
