Everyone in a while i'm sucking on a peppermint, my cute little West Higland White Terrier looks at me with those eyes, so i give him the rest of it. Is it okay to give them that?

I wouldn't give him too many, but once in a while shouldn't hurt him. We feed our Great Dane pepperments occasionally and it hasn't done anything but make his breath a bit more pleasant for about five seconds. ;-)

Yes, absolutely. If they are active, which all Terriers are, should not be a problem whatsoever. While hiking with my labs (I mushroom hunt A LOT in the spring, summer, and fall) I carry hard candy with me always. The get to running around quite a bit and towards the end of the day, water was just not enough. I have had my female crash on me a couple of times, and the hard candy works like a charm. This is not an ideal fix, and what they really need is nutrition and rest, but it gets them back to the vehicle.

So, as far as it is in your situation...go for it. Just not a whole bag.

It's o.k., occasionally. The sugar-less kind would be better, and best would be a dog treat called Yip Yap Breath Strips For Dogs. They're a way to quickly freshen your dog's breath. YipYap Breath Strips are made with natural ingredients and actually contain peppermint -- and dogs love 'em! Maybe you could keep them on hand. I'd be concerned more about the candy getting stuck on the teeth and causing decay. Also, keep the candy remnants small so there's no chance of choking.

If my dogs happens to be close enough to smell my breath after brushing my teeth they always want to kiss me. I bought a bag of those little pastel dinner mints and tell them it is toothpaste breath. They love them, I've done this for years, but only give them a few every now and then. I really don't think it will hurt your dog. Try the ones that I use since they are tiny in size. Same taste.

I saw a doggy brand of peppermints called "Yip Yap".

I'm guessing it would be ok, but like anything else, too much of a good thing could be a bad thing!

Woof!

That's fine as long as he doesn't get too much sugar. My Lab ate a couple of the soft peppermint puffs and she's fine.

So far you sound like your little one is lucky not to have choked on it. It is a bad idea as it could get caught in his throat. no matter how she/he may give you the sad eye routine don't do it or you may live to regret it. (i'm not trying to be mean just realistic)
