just another sign we live in the end times... for it is predicted that many will fall away from sound doctrine.

That may be. But as of the 2000 Census Atheists only amounted to 0.5% of the total population while religious people amounted to about 95%.
Muslims and Jews out rank you with 1-2% each.
They only religion you outnumber is the Branch Dividian Church, which had 83 members.
AND, in the 1990's Reagan allowed 12 million Catholic South Americans to have premanent residence and they brough up another estimated 20 millions dependents who are also Catholic and Congress is about to consider letting another 15 million Catholic illegal immigrants from South America have residence status or work status.
That's 20 - 40 million more DEVOT Catholics in the United States than existed in 1950.
The Catholics are on their way to having an ABSOLUTE majority in America.

I think it means that some people are fed up with all of the hypocrisy and have finally decided that they can be good people without subscribing to a specific religion.
And whoever mentioned teen pregnancy - teen pregnancy rates have DECREASED since 1991. The AGI reported recently that, controlling for other variables, the decline in teen pregnancy is attributed to more wide spread and consistently correct use of effective contraceptives in teens.

I would not doubt those numbers at all. But I don't think it means that atheist will take over the world. I think it just means that the churches are doing a lousy job.

To be honest, it relieves me to hear that. It means that the population of America is a little more educated and sane than before and I think that bodes better for the rest of the world.

I wouldn't say we are going to take over the world. But I do think people are slowly beginning to educate themselves more on religion.
For Pepsiolic:
The divorce rates among atheists are much lower than those of Christians and/or Muslims.

I read a book once about a giant ball of hair that was taking over cities. Many small balls of hair worshiped it. I think we should all worship it too...or be doomed to hell.
sound familiar?

Yes it is true. The bible makes it quite clear that in the last days the love of many will grow cold. Christianity is not a popularity contest.

Drug use and teen pregnancy have gone down in the past ten years.
And yes, we do live in the end of times, but not because of Atheism; because of global warming, peak oil, deforestation, etc.
